우리나라와 캐나다 BC(British Columbia)주의 중등 수학과 교육과정 비교

A Comparative of the Secondary Education Mathematics Curriculum in Korea and Canada BC (British Columbia)

본 연구는 캐나다 BC주의 교육과정을 전반적으로 살펴보고, 우리나라 2015 개정 수학과 교육과정과 캐나다 BC주의 수학과 교육과정을 중등과정을 중심으로 비교하였다. 본 연구의 분석이 향후 우리나라 교육과정 개선을 위한 자료가 되고, 여러 가지 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 캐나다 BC주의 학교 제도, 교육과정, 핵심역량을 살펴보았고, 중등 수학과 교육과정 비교 분석을 위해 수학과의 목표, 과목 체계와 영역, 교육과정 역량, 내용 요소를 우리나라 2015 개정 수학과 교육과정과 비교하였다. 그 결과 캐나다 BC주는 하나의 학습 내용을 여러 학년의 성취기준에 제시하고 있었고, 수학 내적 연결성을 강조하는 관계를 다루고 있었다. 그리고 우리나라와 달리 구체적인 교육과정 역량을 교육과정 문서에 제시하고 있었고, 통계 교육에 있어서 내용 지식을 바탕으로 통계적 수행을 강조하는 구체적인 활동을 교육과정에 제시하고 있었다. 또한 학생들의 건전한 경제생활을 위한 금융 문해력을 강조하고 있었고, 마지막으로 BC주는 단계적으로 이루어지는 핵심역량을 학생과 교사, 학부모가 협력하도록 권장하고 있었다.

This study examines the educational curriculum in BC, Canada, and compares and analyzes Korea s 2015 revised mathematics curriculum with the mathematics curriculum in the province of Canada, focusing on secondary education mathematics. The purpose of this study is to build grounds for improvement of the Korean curriculum and to draw various insights. For this purpose, the researchers reviewed BC’s school system, curriculum, and core competencies. For comparison analysis of secondary mathematics curriculum, various aspects of the curriculum, including the goals, subject systems and domains, curriculum competencies, and content elements of mathematics were compared with those of Korea’s 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. The results showed that the Canadian province of BC was presenting a single learning content as a criterion for achievement in multiple grades at schools and dealing with relationships that emphasized the internal connectivity of mathematics. Different from Korea, specific curricular competencies were presented in the curriculum documents and in statistics education, specific activities, focusing on actual statistical knowledge-based performance were included in the curriculum. It also emphasized financial literacy for students healthy economic life. Lastly, BC encouraged students, teachers, and parents to collaborate to build core competencies in stages.
