A Study on Father’s Perception and Practice of Reading Books to Children at Home According to Their Father’s Education

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 가정에서 자녀에게 책 읽어주기에 대한 아버지의 인식 및 실천 수준을 살펴봄으로써 자녀의 독서활동에 아버지의 양육참여를 높일 수 있는 방안을 모색하는데 있다. 연구방법: 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 B광역시에 위치한 유치원에 자녀를 보내고 있는 학부모들 중 아버지 260명을 대상으로 분석결과를 제시하였다. 연구도구는 선행연구를 바탕으로 가정에서 자녀에게 책 읽어주기에 대한 아버지의 인식 및 실천 수준을 알아보고자 연구자가 고안한 연구도구이며, 내용타당도 검증을 마친 최종설문지를 활용하였다. 자료처리 및 분석을 위해 일원변량분석(One-way ANOVA)과 Fisher exact test를 실시하였다. 연구결과: 연구결과 가정에서 자녀에게 책 읽어주기에 대한 아버지의 의식 수준은 높았으며, 부분적으로 아버지의 학력에 따라 가정에서 자녀에게 책 읽어주기에 대한 아버지의 인식 및 실천 수준에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론: 이러한 결과는 아버지들이 가정에서 자녀를 위한 책 읽어주기 활동을 원활하게 하고 아버지의 양육참여도를 높이기 위한 방안 마련에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the father’s perception and practice of reading books to children at home and to find ways to increase the parent’s participation in the children’s reading activities. Method: For this purpose, we analyzed the results of 260 fathers who are sending their children to kindergartens and daycare centers in B Metropolitan. The questionnaire was by the researchers to find out the level of father’s perception and practice of reading books to children at home based on previous studies, and the final questionnaire, which has been tested for content validity, was used. For data processing and analysis, one-way ANOVA and Fisher exact test were performed. Results: The father’s level of consciousness about reading to children at home was high, and the father’s educational background was partially different in the father’s perception and practice of reading to children at home. Conclusion: These results are expected to help fathers facilitate reading activities for their children at home and to increase their parenting participation.
