The ancient tradition which holds that the queen of Sheba (1 Kgs 10:1-10) was the queen of Ethiopia is at best blurry. The exact location for her homeland is now widely considered to be in Arabia and not to the African continent. The basic tenet of the early Jewish and Christian Tradition has almost been abandoned. However, this article argues that she should have come from an African location. Sheba is one of the descendants of Kush, which is located in Africa including the area bordering the Red Sea. It seems that the early traditions from Josephus and Origen who identified the famous queen as an Ethiopian are reliable.
