A Critical Consideration of Richard Kearney’s Anatheist Faith

이 연구는 형이상학에서 제시하는 존재론적 신론을 넘어서려는 참신한 시도로 평가받는 종교철학자 리처드 커니의 ‘재신론(Anatheism)’을 비판적으로 검토한 연구이다. 분석결과 그는 신과 타자를 구별하지 않았으며 너무 쉽게 탈교의적 입장을 선택하였음이 드러났다. 이는 이방인에 대한 혐오라는 폭력의 역사를 겪은 그 개인의 경험이 작용하여 교회의 전통과 교의를 지나치게 부정적으로만 바라 본 결과임이 분명하다. 그러나 그가 제기한 무신론과의 대화나 종교간 대화, 그리고 종교적 난민에 대한 포용 등의 이슈는 더욱 넓고 깊게 이루어져야 할 담론임이 드러났다.

This study aims to critically review the ‘Anatheism’ of religious philosopher Richard Kearney, which is regarded as an unworn attempt to overcome ontological theology suggested by metaphysics. As a result of analysis, it is revealed that he did not distinguish between God and the other, and he chose the postdoctrinal position too easily. It is clear that this is the result of his individual experience of violent history of hate against the Gentiles, overlooking the church s dogmatic traditions. However, it turned out that the issues he raised, such as dialogue with atheism, inter-religious dialogue, and inclusion of religious refugees, were discourses to be made broader and deeper.
