An Exploratory Study on Career Transition Determinants Using Logistic Regression Analysis

이 연구는 한국교육고용패널 6차년도 자료를 활용하여 청년들이 경력전환 의도를 갖고 있는지 여부를 적절하게 예측할 수 있는 로지스틱 최종모형을 탐색함으로써, 청년들의 경력전환 결정에 유의한 영향을 주는 변인을 확인하고, 개별 변인의 상대적 효과를 승산비를 통해 확인하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 아울러 직업을 갖는 이유에 따라 경력전환 의도에 유의한 차이가 있는지 여부를 검증하고자 하였다. 최종 분석대상 377명을 직업을 갖는 이유에 따라 크게세 집단으로 분류하여 분석한 결과, 집단 간 경력전환 의도 및 경력전환 이유, 설명 변인의 기술통계치에 상대적 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 경력전환 결정에 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수는 개인요인 중에서는 취업준비, 교육훈련, 평생직장 인지여부, 직무요인 중에서는 자신의 역량 수준에 비추어 본 직장의 요구역량 수준, 임금만족도, 안정성, 전반적 직장만족도, 정규직 여부, 그리고 환경요인 중에서는 미래경제상황 예상이 경력전환 결정에 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수인 것으로 나타났다. 이 중 교육훈련, 자신의 역량 수준에 비추어 본 직장의 요구역량 수준, 취업준비는 경력전환 승산비 증가에 유의하게 기여하는 반면, 이외 다섯 개의 변수, 즉 평생직장인지여부, 임금만족도, 안정성, 전반적인 직장만족도, 정규직 여부는 승산비 감소에 기여하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이 연구는 경력개발 계획을 수립하고 설계하는데 있어서 개인과 조직이 고려해야 할 요소들을 제시하고, 나아가 각 요소들이 경력개발에서 갖는 의미와 기능을 드러냄으로써 성공적인 경력개발을 위한 시사점을 제공한다는데 의의가 있다.

This study was conducted to explore career transition determinants using logistic regression analysis. In order to answer the research questions, the study used the 6th year(2009) data of the Korean Education and Employment Panel applying 377 cases for the final analysis. The results suggested that those who have career for self-realization showed relatively the lowest career transition intention. Their major purpose of career transition came from career-aptitude mismatch, while the two other groups pointed out poor salaries as their reasons for career transition. Each of the main goals of having jobs showed different levels in the three variables related to career transition intention. The ultimate purpose of this study was to identify the significant variables affecting career transition intention using logistic regression analysis. The results indicated nine variables affected career transition intention. Based on the findings, practical and theoretical implications for career development plan and career guidance were suggested.
