수행공학과 식스시그마 방법론의 통합 활용

The integrated application of Six-Sigma and Human Performance Technology

본 연구는 식스시그마 DFSS로부터 수행공학이 어떤 방법론적인 장점을 취할 수 있는지를 밝히기 위해, 수행공학과 식스시그마 방법론의 통합 활용에 대해 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 식스시그마 DFSS와 수행공학의 전개 단계를 비교하고, DFSS 도구의 활용 가능성을 분석하였다. B사의 영업소장 수행향상 프로젝트 사례에 대한 분석이 본 연구의 기반이 되었다. 연구 결과, 식스시그마 DFSS의 프로세스는 독창적인 설계와 정확한 측정에 강점을 갖고 있는 반면, 수행공학의 프로세스는 상세한 분석에 강점을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 두 방법론의 전개 프로세스는 통합 활용 시 시너지를 낼 수 있는 상호보완적인 측면이 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 수행공학 프로젝트 진행 시 활용함으로써 식스시그마의 장점을 취할 수 있는 DFSS의 도구에는 고객 핵심요구사항, 톨게이트 리뷰 미팅, 퀵윈(quick win), 위험평가 등이 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 경영층의 강력한 지원 하에 실행되는 식스시그마의 영향력을 수행공학 실천의 추진동력으로 활용할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다는 점에서 실무적 의의가 있으며, 기존에 활발하게 연구되지 않았던 식스시그마 DFSS와의 통합 활용에 대해 다룸으로써 수행공학 방법론의 영역을 확대하였다는 점에서 학문적인 의의가 있다.

To identify the methodological advantages of Six-Sigma to advance the Human Performance Technology (HPT) field, this study examined the integrated application of Six-Sigma and HPT. The phases of Six-Sigma DFSS and HPT were compared, and the applicability of the DFSS tools to HPT was analyzed, based on the case analysis of the performance improvement project for the heads of sales offices in the B Corp. The results reveal that the strength of the process of Six-Sigma DFSS can be found in the phases for design and measurement, while the strength of the process of HPT can be found in the phases for analysis. Therefore, the complementary characteristics to create synergy were discovered between their respective processes when they were utilized as an integrated form. The critical customer requirement, the tollgate review meeting, the quick win, and the risk analysis were determined to be DFSS tools that can be utilized to benefit HPT. This study contributes to strengthening HPT by finding the methods needed to gain a more powerful driving force in an organization from the influence of Six-Sigma, which is performed under the strong support of the CEO.
