만학도의 대학 진학 동기와 변화된 삶의 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

A Narrative Inquiry into Later Learners Motives for Learning at University and Their Changed Life Experiences

본 연구는 최근 평생교육에 대한 제도적 지향과 인식의 확산과 함께 새로운 학습자로 주목받으며 급속하게 증가하고 있는 만학도의 삶과 학습에 관한 내러티브 탐구이다. 본 연구는 최근 평생교육에 대한 제도적 지향과 인식의 확산과 함께 새로운 학습자로 주목 받으며 급속하게 증가하고 있는 만학도의 삶과 학습에 관한 내러티브 탐구이다. 본 내러 티브 탐구는 두 만학도를 연구참여자로 선정하여, 두 만학도의 대학 진학과 대학 생활을 통해서 변화된 삶의 경험에 대한 이야기, 즉 그들의 내러티브를 통해서 그들이 젊었던 시기에 학업을 지속하지 않았던 이유와 사연, 대학 교육을 받지 않고 사회에 진출한 후 에 걸어 온 삶의 궤적, 늦은 나이에 대학 진학을 선택하게 된 동기, 그리고 대학 진학 후의 학업생활이 그들의 이후 삶에 가져온 변화와 그 변화가 가져다 준 의미 등을 분석 하고 그들의 고유한 개인적 삶의 맥락과 경험에 대한 해석적 의미를 찾아보았다. 본 연 구에 참여한 두 만학도의 개인적으로 고유한 경험과 정체성을 이해해 가면서 연구자는 교육자로서의 자세와 동시대 경험자로서의 관점을 돌아보는 경험을 제공해 주었다.

This narrative inquiry is to explore and understand the life and learning of later learners who are rapidly gaining attention as new learners with the expansion of institutional orientation and awareness of lifelong education. In this narrative inquiry, two later learners were selected as research participants, and their narratives about their own life contexts and experiences were used as field texts and transformed to research texts. This narrative inquiry selected two later learners as research participants, collect their narratives, and tracked the experiences changed by their lives and learning after entering the university of the two later learners. Their narrative tells about the reasons to discontinue their schooling at young ages, the trajectory of life after working for a job without higher education, the motivation to choose university at a later age, and the academic life in university. This inquiry revealed the changes brought to their lives through later learning and the meaning of the changes, and explored the interpretive meaning of the narrative. It provided the experience of reflecting on the attitude of the researcher as their educator, while understanding their unique experiences and identities of the two later learners lives.
