급속히 발전하는 과학기술환경과 현대 경영환경에서는 경영관리 능력과 함께 과학기술분야에 대한 분석력이 리더의 핵심 자질로 부각되면서, 국내외 기업에서 공과계열 출신 경영진들이 증가하고 있다. 따라서 미래의 기업조직에서 리더가 될 수 있는 공과계열 대학생들의 리더십 역량 개발을 위한 교육적 노력이 시급한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공과계열 대학생들의 진로와 직접적으로 관련 있는 기업현장에서 공과계열 대학생들에게 요구되는 실천적 리더십 역량을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 기업현장의 경영진 27명과 공과계열 대학생 288명을 대상으로 이들이 인식하고 있는 실천적 리더십 역량의 차이를 규명함으로써 공과계열 대학생들의 실천적 리더십 역량 개발을 위한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 실천적 리더십 역량의 구성요소별 중요도 인식에 있어서는 경영진과 대학생들 간의 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났으나, 리더십 구성요소에 대한 수행도 인식을 분석한 결과 기업체 경영진들의 공과계열 출신 신입사원들을 대상으로 한 리더십 수행수준보다 대학생들이 자신의 리더십 수행수준에 대해 높게 평가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 리더십 역량에 대한 중요도-수행도 분석을 통해 도출된 공과계열 대학생들이 핵심적으로 갖추어야할 실천적 리더십 역량은 창의력, 다양성수용력, 의사전달능력, 경청, 신뢰구축, 협업능력, 목표설정, 목표관리능력 등으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로, 공과대학에서 대학생들의 실천적 리더십 역량개발을 위한 교육과정운영 전략 및 교육프로그램 개발을 위한 몇 가지 시사점이 제시되었다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze practical leadership competency for students in engineering college. To undertake this research, 27 CEOs in company fields and 288 engineering students in A university were surveyed, and the difference of perceptions on practical leadership competency between two groups were analyzed. As a result of this research, importance awareness on components of practical leadership competency between CEOs and engineering students were not significantly different. However, performance awareness on components of practical leadership competency between two groups showed that college students were perceived on their leadership performance higher than that of CEOs. Also, 8 components among 30 components of practical leadership competency were drawn as core competencies to be developed; ① Creation, ② Acceptance of diversity, ③ Communication skill, ④ Building trust ⑤ Good listening skill, ⑥ Collaborative ability, ⑦ Goal setting, ⑧ Goal management. Based on the results, practical and theoretical implications on educational program for developing leadership competency were suggested.
