Holland는 직업과 흥미가 일치하여야 한다는 직업-흥미 일치 이론을 주장하였는데 대학생들의 전공-흥미가 일치할 때 실제로 전공 만족도도 높은가 하는 문제는 국내외에서 종종 검토되어 왔지만 혼재된 연구결과를 보여주었다. 본 연구는 그 원인이 직업흥미수준과 유형을 함께 고려하지 못하였기 때문이라고 보고 대학생들을 대상으로 하여 그들의 전공-흥미 일치도 및 흥미 수준, 흥미 유행이 전공만족도와 진로성숙도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 검토하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울시에 소재한 4개 대학의 남녀 254명을 대상으로 직업선호도 검사, 전공만족도, 진로성숙도 검사를 실시하였다. 확인된 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전공-흥미 일치도가 높을수록 전공만족도가 높고, 둘째, 직업흥미 수준이 높을수록 전공만족도와 진로성숙도 모두 높았으며, 셋째, 직업흥미 수준이 전공만족도와 진로성숙도를 모두 유의하게 예언하였다. 마지막으로, 직업흥미 유형별로 볼 때 진취형에서 전공-흥미 일치도가 전공만족도에, 탐구형, 사회형, 예술형, 진취형에서 직업흥미 수준이 전공만족도와 진로성숙도에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 대학생들을 대상으로 한 진로상담에 있어 전공-흥미의 일치도 뿐만 아니라 다양한 분야에 대한 관심과 재능을 갖도록 전반적인 직업흥미 수준을 향상시켜 주는 진로지도 개입이 필요함을 시사해 준다.
This study was to examine the effects of major-interest congruence, score elevation and types of occupational interest on college students` career maturity and satisfaction with major. Data on the Occupational Preference Test (S-type), the Career Maturity Test developed by Korea research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, and the Test for Satisfaction with Major were collected from 254 college students, and analyzed using ANOVA and correlational analysis. Results indicated the followings. First, students` satisfaction with major increased when their major was congruent with occupational interest, while career maturity did not. Second, both career maturity and satisfaction increased according to the score elevation of students` occupational interest. Third, career maturity was more influenced by the score elevation of students` occupational interest than major-interest congruence. Finally, significant correlations among major-interest congruence, score elevation of occupational interest, career maturity, and satisfaction were found in several interest types. Implications and suggestions were discussed.
