근래에 전문계 고등학교는 입학생 감소와 학교 수의 감소라는 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이러한 어려움을 해소하고 발전의 새로운 전기를 마련하기 위해서는 먼저 교육의 수요자인 학생들이 학교에 대해서 만족하도록 교육을 실시하여야 한다. 본 연구는 한국직업능력개발원의 「한국교육고용패널」 자료를 이용하여 전문계 고등학교 학생들의 학교만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고 학교교육과정 운영 방향을 제시하고자 하는 연구이다. 실증분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기존 선행 연구결과와는 달리 여학생들의 학교만족도가 남학생들에 비해서 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 여학생들의 변화된 가치관과 노동시장환경에 적합한 교육과정 운영의 필요성이 있다. 둘째, 학교건물, 운동장 등 일반적인 시설은 학교만족도에 긍정적인 영향을 주지만 전공실습 시설은 학교 만족도에 별다른 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 전공실습 시설의 효율적 사용방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다. 셋째, 보통교과 교사의 수업진행이 학생들의 학교만족도에 별다른 영향을 미치지 못하였지만 전공교사의 수업진행은 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 보통교과의 교육내용과 교수방법의 개선이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 넷째, 학생의 성실한 수업행동은 학교만족도에 긍정적 영향을 주지만, 내재적 학습동기와 학업성취는 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 학습의 결과보다는 학습의 과정이 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다. 학업성취가 중요한 요소로 여겨질 수 있도록 학습의 내용을 개선해야 할 것으로 판단된다.
The Vocational High Schools in Korea are suffering from diminishing of entering students nowadays. The first principle of resolving this problem should be to give students satisfaction with education. The objectives of this study are finding the factors influencing on school satisfaction of Vocational High School students and suggesting the way of resolving problems of Vocational High Schools by raising satisfaction of students. In this study, the Korean Education and Employment Panel (KEEP) data of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training was used. The results of the empirical analysis are as follows: First, differently from the previous studies, girl students are less satisfied than boy students. Vocational High Schools should be change to adapting new values of girl students and new trends of labor market of women. Secondly, general school facilities such as buildings and grounds have a positive impact on the satisfaction level of students, but practice facilities at the school have no significant impact on the level of satisfaction with schools. Thirdly, while the teaching activities of general subject teachers such as Korean language, Mathematics, and English teachers have no significant impact on students` school satisfaction level, those of Major subjects teachers had a positive impact on the satisfaction level. The teachers of Vocational High Schools should improve the educational content and teaching methods proper to the students.
