지식기반경제사회에 들어서면서 지식재산권이 국가경쟁력을 결정짓는 주요 요소로 대두됨에 따라 발명의 결과를 지식재산권으로 권리화하고 사업화하는 일이 매우 중요하게 되었다. 지식재산권 교육은 국가적 차원에서 창조적인 지식 자산의 창출을 촉진시켜 준다는 점에서 인적자원의 교육훈련 측면에서도 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 이러한 관점에서 이 연구는 우리나라 성인의 지식재산권 교육 현황을 진단하고 지식재산권 교육에 대한 요구를 조사·분석함으로써 이를 바탕으로 지식재산권 교육에 대한 발전 방향을 제안하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 분석을 통하여 다음과 같은 지식재산권 교육의 활성화를 방안을 제안 하였다. 첫째, 지식재산권 교육의 활성화를 위해서는 지식재산권 교육의 인지도 및 지식재산권 교육의 필요성과 유용성에 관한 인식 제고가 필요하다. 둘째, 수요자의 요구에 부응할 수 있도록 다양하고, 영역별로 세분화·전문화된 교육 프로그램의 개설·운영이 요구된다. 셋째, 지식재산권 교육이 효과를 거두기 위해서는 특정 분야의 기술과 법률 지식이 결합된 교육 형태가 바람 직하므로 현재와 같이 독립된 학과에서 이루어지고 있는 법률 위주의 교육은 지양하고, 이공계 학과에서는 지식재산권 교육을 필수적으로 실시하는 것이 바람직하다. 넷째, 지식재산권 마인드 함양 및 지식에 관한 기초 교육을 대학 교육 단계뿐만 아니라 대학을 졸업한 재직근로자들에게 실시할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 지식재산권 교육 활성화를 위해서는 교육기관과 전문 교수 인력의 증대를 통한 인프라를 구축하고, 교육 기회 및 기관에 대한 홍보를 강화하도록 한다. 여섯째, 지식재산권 교육의 질적 제고 및 내실화를 위해서는 다양한 교수·학습 방법의 개발·적용과 교재개발이 이루어져야 한다.
The importance of the intellectual property is emphasized more and more with introduction of the knowledge based economic society. The purpose of this research is to diagnose the status and analyze the recognition and needs of intellectual property education. Based on analysis results, several directions for activating intellectual property education are proposed. First, the increase of the recognition and the perceived necessity and value of intellectual property education are needed for activation of intellectual property education. Second, various and specific programs in intellectual property education should be developed. Third, the combination of technology and the knowledge of law in intellectual property education is desirable. Fourth, the basic education about intellectual property should be carried out for employees at work as well as college students. Fifth, the number of intellectual property education institutions and professors must be increased and the information of intellectual property education opportunities must be given wider publicity. Sixth, the improvement of a teaching & learning method is needed, and the teaching & learning materials should be developed.
