우리나라 초중등학교에서 ‘진로교육’이 도입된 지 상당한 시간이 흘렀다. 그럼에도 불구하고 학교현실에서 진로교육의 純機能적 역할은 점차 사라지고 ‘대학입시’위주의 교육정책과 더불어 진로교육이란 학교 재량활동의 한 요소로서 존재하는 미흡한 모습을 보이고 있다. 이는 초중등학교 진로교육에 관한 인식, 교육내용(contents), 교수-학습 방법, 교사전문성, 그리고 행재정적 지원 등의 요소가 상호 유기적으로 조직되지 못한 학교현실 및 관련 정책의 부실함과 깊은 관련을 가지고 있다. 최근의 사회경제, 직업세계, 그리고 지식기반사회로 진입 등과 같은 교육 외적 환경 변화는 학교 진로교육에 관한 새로운 관심과 혁신을 요구 하고 있다. 이러한 환경은 학교 진로교육의 체질 개선을 필요로 하며, 이를 위하여 학교현실에 존재하는 진로교육 실체에 대한 본질적인 접근과 해석에 관한 연구의 필요성이 제기되었다. 이러한 문제의식에서 본 논고는 학교 진로교육 현실에 관한 양질적분석에 기초하여 향후 학교 진로교육이 활성화될 수 있는 과제를 제안하였다.
This paper was purpose to suggest the new direction and strategies for the revitalization of career education at the school level in Korea. For the purpose, a total of 7,223 schools were surveyed for identifying and explanation the reality of career education at the school level. For the survey, career education support system in the unit of school level, 「Career & Vocation」curriculum subject choice, and the related career education program were asked to answered by the career guidance related teachers, and the results were analyzed with the literature review and the face-to-face interview from the educational administrators at the local level. Based on the results, this paper points out the major problems in career education at the school level, and suggests the strategies to revitalize the career education in a new way. Finally this paper suggests several recommendations for increased emphasis on career education at the school level.
