In the study, we examined what differences junior college students showed in adapting to their college lives by individual background, by home background and by the type of admission and we analyzed the factors which are related to their adaptation. For this, questionnaire research was executed for 540 students who went to three technical junior colleges located in Seoul. Male students adapted to the college life better than female students; students over 23 year old better than under 23 year old; students receiving good grades better than those receiving bad grades; students with military experience better than those without it; students whose fathers were production or manual workers better than those whose fathers had other jobs; day students better than night students; students selected through general entrance procedure better than those selected through special entrance procedure; and students those based on the same course and students having technical certificate better than those who used to be industrial workers. Further, it was found that age, credit, whether they had taken a leave of absence or not, their fathers` occupation and educational achievement and their mothers` educational achievement, whether they are day students or night students and the selection procedure had statistically significant effects on junior college students` adaptation to their college lives.
