With open educational system being introduced in Korea, organizational commitment(OC) and professional commitment(PC) have been highlighted in educational context. While it is imperative to study on this theme, there have been only few academic and systematic efforts for it. Primary research purpose of this article is to review the relationship between teachers` organizational/ professional commitment and occupational-professional conflict(OPC). And second purpose is to test the effects of OPC and intention to leave(IL), and the moderating effects of sex and tenure on the relationship between OPC and IL. According to literature survey, OC and PC are interacing to have a effect on OPC, and OPC has revealed to have close relationship with IL. Teachers(n=469) in primary, midle or high schools around Wonju area were surveyed. To test proposed hypotheses, zero-order correlation analysis, two was ANOVA, and multiple hierarchical regression methods based on Cohen & Cohen(1983) were applied. The results suggest the OC and PC had not interacting effect on OPC, and male and short-tenure teachers had more affirmative impacts on OPC than female and long-tenure teachers respectively. OPC didn`t impact on IL, but tenure did impact affirmatively on IL. OPC and tenure interacted to impact negatively on IL. This means OPC will impact more affirmatively on IL in short tenure teachers than long tenure teachers. Based on the results of this empirical analysis, to minize organizational and professional conflict(OPC) and intention to leave(IL), it is srggested that socializing program for younger and shorter tenure teachers be provided.
