A Study on the Developmental Direction of Prior Experiential Learning Assessment Standards

The purpose of this study were 1) developmental direction of standards for assessment of prior experiental learning (APEL), 2) to verify of created standards for APEL and, 3) to provide suggestions suitable to Korean situation. In order to create developmental standards for APEL, this study analysed some standards: Council for Adult and Experiential Learning(CAEL). The Quality Assurance Agency for higher Education(QAA). The Canadian Labour Force Development Board(CLFDB), The British Columbia Council on Admission and Transfer(BCCAT), and McMillan Development Staff. Literature review was conducted through domain analysis and taxonomic analysis presented by Sparadley. The initially produced standards were reviewed and revised by 5 professionals and verified by related person who works at two college that was running Industry Trusted Education(ITE). Triangulation method and peers` advice were used for vaildity of study. The major findings of this study was that the developmental direction of prior experiential learning was constructed assessment domain, assessor domain learner domain, and administration domain. And sub-assessment domain was 4, sub assessor domain was 5, learner domain was 2, and sub-administration domain was 6.
