Changing trends and characteristics of Vocational qualification systems in European countries were investigated in terms of the realization of standardization, the attainment of comparability and the upgrade of transparency from 1950 to the present. In order to carry out this research focusing on the mutual recognition of qualification between countries, the time period since 1950, has been divided into two periods; a formal centralized period and decentralized period. The formal centralized period was further separated into another two distinct periods; the first period focused on attempts to achieve mutual recognition based on common system consisting of educational and vocational qualifications, the second period focused on attempts to achieve mutual recognition through securing the comparability of qualifications based on comparative studies among vacational qualifications of each country in Europe. Based on this review, concerning the mutual recognition of vacational qualification between Korea and other countries, overall policy initiatives have been identified.
