Primary research purpose of this article is to review the relationship between principal`s leadership and organizational/ professional commitment. And second purpose is to test whether the effects of transformational leadership on organizational and professional commitment is superior to transactional leadership or not. According to literature survey, transformational leadership as a predictor revealed to have close relationship with organizational commitment and many other consequences (Bass, 1985; Darden, Hampton & Howell, 1989 ; colarelli & Bishop, 1990). Teachers(m=429) in primary, middle or high schools around Wonju area were surveyed. To test proposed hypotheses, multiple and hierarchical regression methods based on Cohen & Cohen (1983) were applied. The results suggest that transformational leadership had more impacts on both organizational and professional commitment than transactional leadership. Especially charisma of trasformational leadership was proved effective on organizational commitment, and only intellectual stimulation leadership on professional commitment.
