A Basic Study on the Introduction of Articulation to Link Vocational Schools and Junior Colleges

The purpose of this study was to find the cognizance of the teachers and students in vocational schools about the existing articulated education, to understand the need, and to search for the method of articulating vocational schools and junior colleges. The results of this study were as follows: (1) 85% of teachers had knowledge of the existing articulated education between the occupational high schools and junior colleges, but 83% of the students did not know about it. In the case of teachers, male teachers had more cognizance on the articulated education than female. (2) 76% of the teachers and 84% of the students pointed out the need of vocational education with a junior college degree at least in the coming information society. (3) Teachers expected the cooperation of vocational schools, junior colleges, and industry to innovate craftman-based job education. (4) 94% of the teachers required articulated education of the vocational schools and junior colleges. (5) 90% of the teachers and 96% of the students anticipate articulated education will vitalize vocational education. Male teachers have hoped for the 2 year-integrated course to be articulated, but female teachers have insisted on the 1 year-entrusted course.
