유아 융합교육(STEAM) 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 유아교사의 인식 및 요구도 차이 -교육경력을 중심으로-

Analysis of Early Childhood Teachers’ Education Experience, Awareness and Needs for the Development and Application of Early Childhood Convergence Education (STEAM) Programs

연구목적: 본 연구는 유아 STEAM 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 유아교사의 인식 및 요구도의 차이를 교육경력을 중심으로 살펴보는 것이다. 연구방법: 연구대상은 대구 및 경북 지역에 근무하는 유아교사 279명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였으며, 수집된 자료는 빈도분석, 일원배치 분산분석 및 카이검정을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 교육경력에 따른 유아 STEAM 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 인식은 경력이 많을수록 프로그램에 대한 이해가 높았고, 필요성은 낮게 나타났다. 프로그램의 긍정적 및 부정적 영향에서도 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 그리고 경력이 많을수록 적용의 어려움에 대한 인식이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 교육경력에 따른 유아 STEAM 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 요구도는 프로그램에 대한 보완점, STEAM 영역, 효과적인 지원방법, 적절한 시작연령, 교사의 연수 횟수에서 각 하위요인별로 경력에 따라 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 프로그램에 대한 고려사항은 또래 간 상호작용, 집중력 향상에서 경력이 많을수록 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구를 통해 유아교육현장에서 유아교사의 교육경력 특성에 따른 STEAM 교육운영의 방향성을 제시하고, 유아교사를 위한 프로그램 개발 및 교사연수가 필요함을 시사한다.

Objective: This study aims investigate early childhood teachers’ awareness and needs for the development and application of early childhood STEAM programs. Methods: This study surveyed 279 early education teachers working in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas, and a frequency analysis, one-way ANOVA, and the chi-square test were conducted on the collected materials. Results: First, this study showed that awareness of the development and application of early childhood STEAM programs, which are dependent on educational career experience, increased with experience, and the need for awareness appeared to decrease. There was also a significant difference in the positive and negative effects of the program. Additionally, the awareness of difficulties in application appeared higher in subjects with greater education experience. Secondly, the degree of needs for the development and application of educational career-dependent early childhood STEAM programs showed a significant difference in each of the programs’ shortcomings, the STEAM field, effective support methods, appropriate starting age, and the number of the teachers’ training sessions, depending on educational career experience. A significant difference in the peer-interaction and concentration-improvement considerations for the program was also apparent as experience increased. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in proposing a direction for the development and application of STEAM programs in the current field of early childhood education.
