The Current Status of Braille Signage on Transportation Accommodation

연구 목적: 이 연구의 목적은 한국철도공사가 운영하는 총 223개 역사의 점자 표기 실태를 조사하여 향후 이동 편의 시설의 점자 표기 관련 정책과 전략을 제안하는 것이었다. 연구 방법: 2인 1조의 조사요원 3개 팀이 이 연구의 목적에 맞게 개발된 편의 시설 검목표를 사용해 대상 역사를 각각 방문하여 실측했다. 연구 결과: 적정 설치율은 1, 3, 4호선 수도권 국철 역사 57.7%, 경의⋅중앙선 역사 39.8%, 고속철도 역사 10.6%였다. 결론: 이 연구는 이동 편의 시설의 점자 표기 관련 법령 개정 방안, 기술 개선 전략 및 향후 조사 방법 등에 대해 논의하였다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose the policies or strategies for improving transportation accommodations in braille by investigating installing braille signage on a total of 223 stations operated by Korail. Method: Three teams of six trained research assistants visited and monitored each of the 223 stations using the checklist developed for the purpose of this study. Results: The rate of appropriate installment was 57.8% for 120 stations on Seoul metropolitan 1, 3 & 4 subway lines; 39.8% for 55 stations on Gyeongui-jungang line; 10.6% for 48 stations on Korail Train eXpress. Conclusion: this discussed the revisions of some related rules and guidelines, the development of technical measures, and the directions for future investigations on the installment of braille signage.
