초등학생의 또래거부가 외현적/관계적 공격행동에 미치는 영향: 학급비선호또래연결망 구조의 조절효과

The Effects of Peer Rejection on Aggressive Behavior in Elementary School Students: The Moderating Effects of Structures in the Peer Negative Relationship

본 연구는 초등학생의 성별 및 또래거부와 학급비선호또래연결망의 구조적 특성이 외현적/관계적 공격행동에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고, 성별 및 또래거부와 외현적/관계적 공격 행동 간의 관계를 학급비선호또래연결망의 구조적 특성이 조절하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 초등학교 11개교, 17개 학급의 4∼6학년학생 471명(여학생 45.4%)을 대상으로 또래지명을 활용하여 또래거부, 외현적/관계적 공격행동 변인을 측정하였고 사회연결망분석을 통해 학급비선호또래연결망의 구조적 특성(응집성, 상호호혜성, 전이성)을 분석하였다. 학생과 학급수준을 포함하는 다층모형분석 결과, 첫째, 여학생은 남학생에 비해 외현적 공격행동 수준이 낮고, 또래거부는 외현적/관계적 공격행동과 유의한 정적관련이 있었다. 둘째, 학급비선호또래연결망의 구조적 특성 중 응집성은 외현적/관계적 공격행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학급비선호또래연결망의 전이성은 성별과 외현적 공격행동의 관계에서 조절효과를 나타내는 것으로밝혀졌다. 이러한 연구결과는 학급구성원이 공격적 행동을 발현하는데 있어 학급비선호또래연결망의 구조적 특성이 중요함을 의미하며 이와 관련하여 시사점을 논의하였다.

The present study investigated the effects of gender, peer rejection, structures(cohesion, reciprocity, and transitivity) in the peer negative relationship on overt/relational behavior as well as the moderating effects of structures in the peer negative relationship. In a cross-sectional sample of 471(female: 45.4%) 4th-6th grade students from 17 classrooms of 11 elementary schools, a peer rejection and aggressive behavior were measured employing NGQ and the structures in the peer negative relationship were assessed using social network analysis. The results of hierarchical linear model analysis indicate that female predicted less overt aggressive behavior than male and peer rejection had a significantly positive effect on overt/relational aggressive behavior. In addition, the cohesion had a significantly positive effect on overt/relational aggressive behavior. Furthermore, the transitivity moderated relations between gender and overt aggressive behavior. Findings underscored that the structural characteristics of peer negative relationship can influence students’ aggressive behavior, implications are discussed.
