시서화 수행으로서 전통교육의 재구축

Deconstruction of Cartesian Perspective and Reconstruction of Traditional Education as PoetryㆍCalligraphyㆍPainting Contemplative Practice

근대 유럽 남성의 데카르트적 관점은 이성적 논리를 중심으로 이분하는 사고로 인하여 자기중심적 시각의 한계를 강화한다. 동양의 근대화는 서양화에 따라 주변화되고 전통적 관점을 잃었다. 거기에 근대 교육은 문자와 청각 중심의 좌뇌적 시각의 개념화를 초래하여 좌뇌편측화된다. 본고는 시각을 중심으로 현대 한국 교육의 문제를 비판하고, 이의 극복은 오히려 전통문인교육을 시서화의 시각 훈련적 특성에 있다고 보았다. 이는 일원론적 세계관 안에서 1) 상징적으로 의미를 전달하는 가시세계와 비가시세계의 합일성, 2) 시각적 자기표현, 3) 문학, 철학 미술의 융합, 4) 매체적 특성, 5) 우뇌적 시각과 창조성으로 찾았다. 이러한 시서화는 작업 과정에서 몸과 마음이 합일하며 통관하는 특성을 시서화 수행으로 보았다. 이의 통관적 작용은 우뇌적 시각을 활용하여 이미지를 보고 그리며 모든 것을 아우르는 체현화 훈련을 한다. 이것이 이미지를 보고 활용할 줄 아는비주얼리터러시로서 시각훈련의 역할이다. 끝으로 시서화 수행의 현대적 역할은 비주얼 리터러시를 목표로 하는 “과정 중심 시각교육”이 기초교과로서의 역할을 해야 할 필요성을 제기하였다.

The Cartesian Perspective s dichotomous thinking reinforces the limits of its’self-centered vision. This paper aims to re-establish the view of traditional education as a visual literacy that can see and utilize images, focusing on educational viewpoints between tradition and modern times. In modern Korean education, left brain lateralization, centered on text and rational logic, dismantled modern education and art education. It is to present the problem of identity along with Korean self-esteem lost due to the limitations and marginalization of self-centered vision. In the mean time, the characteristics of traditional education for literarti were seen in the poetryㆍ calligraphyㆍpainting theory as education in a monistic world view and unity. It presented a problem in modern applications. Also, as a basis for modern education, the theory of poetryㆍcalligraphyㆍpainting contemplative practice in traditional education as a reconstruction of traditional vision was considered through the unification of integrated knowledge and practice in everyday living. Connectedness of poetryㆍ calligraphyㆍpainting contemplative practice was proposed as an old future that embraces education and art education as “process-oriented visual education.”
