다문화가족 어머니의 출신국별 부모효능감 비교 연구

Parent efficacy of foreign-born mothers in multicutural families in South Korea

본 연구는 다문화가족 아동·청소년의 어머니가 지각하는 부모효능감 수준과 시간의 흐름에 따른 효능감 추이를 살펴보는 데 목적을 둔 연구로, 한국청소년정책연구원의 다문화청소년패널 자료를 활용하여 2012, 2014, 2016년에 걸쳐 부모효능감 수준의 변화를 탐색하였다. 분석결과, 자녀의 학년이 높아질수록 어머니가 느끼는 부모효능감 수준은 전반적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며 특히 자녀가 중학교 3학년에 재학 중일 때 효능감 수준이 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 출신국별로 점수 변화 추이를 살펴봤을 때, 한국과 태국 어머니들을 제외한 나머지 출신국가 어머니들의 부모효능감 변화는 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 다문화가족 어머니들이 경험하는 부모효능감 증진을 위해 기초자료를 마련했다는 데 의의를 가지며, 개입 시점에 대한 함의를 제공한다.

This study examines the parent-efficacy of foreign-mothers in multicultural families in Korea. More specifically, the study examines the trend of parent-efficacy from 2012 to 2016 and compares the levels by the mothers’ country of origin. The findings show that the overall mean of parent efficacy decreased over time, indicating that the mothers feel less capable in parenting as their children grow. Statistically differences were also observed in parent-efficacy levels by mothers’ country of origin. Mothers from Vietnam scored the lowest in parent-efficacy in all three time points than mothers from other countries. Based on these findings, implications for social work practice are provided.
