베이비부머의 자아존중감과 다문화수용성의 관계에서 공감능력의 매개효과

The Mediating Effects of empathy on the Relationship Between Self-esteem and Multicultural Acceptability of Baby Boomers

본 연구의 목적은 고령다문화사회에서 베이비부머의 사회인구학적 변인과 자아존중감, 공감능력에 따른 다문화수용성을 살펴보고, 베이비부머의 자아존중감이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향에서 공감능력이 매개역할을 하는지를 파악하고자 하는 데 있다. 분석을 위한 조사는 대구지역에 거주하는 베이비부머를 대상으로 총 290명의 설문조사 결과를 사용하였고, SPSS프로그램을 사용하여 빈도분석, t-검증, 다중회귀분석, 상관관계분석, 매개분석 등을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 자아존중감, 공감능력은 베이비부머의 다문화 수용성과 높은 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 위계적 회귀분석 결과학력, 경제수준, 해외영행 유무, 이주민 접촉유무, 미디어 노출유무, 집단자아존중감, 인지적공감능력, 정서적공감능력이 다문화 수용성에 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 베이비부머의 공감능력은 개인 및 집단자아존중감과 다문화수용성의 관계에서 완전매개 변수인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 베이비부머의 고령다문화 사회의 적응을 위한 근거를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한 향후 다문화사회에 대한 새로운 공감대 형성과 폭넓은 수용 및 공존을 통해 사회통합에 기여함에 있어서도 시사 하는 바가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the multicultural acceptability according to the socio-demographic variables of baby boomers in aging multiculturalism. This study examines whether empathy is mediating role in baby boomer s self-esteem and multicultural acceptability. For the analysis, a total of 290 questionnaires were collected from baby boomers living in Daegu. As a result, first, self-respect, empathy ability showed a high correlation with the multicultural acceptability of baby boomers. Second, as a result of multiple regression analysis,educational attainment, economic level, overseas travel status, immigrant contact status, Media exposure status, Group self-esteem, cognitive empathy, emotional empathy are affecting multicultural acceptability. Third, the baby boomer s empathy is shown to be a mediating effect in the relationship between self-respect and multicultural acceptability. It can be confirmed that there is a partial mediating effect of empathy in the effect of baby boomer s self-esteem on multicultural acceptability. This study is meaningful in that it provides the basic data for the desirable adaptation to the aging multicultural society and the integration of our society by identifying the multicultural acceptability of baby boomers.
