Normativity in Hegel’s Concept of the Self - An Intercultural Approach

서양 철학 전반에 (자연과 분리된) 강한 개념으로서 자아와 자연에 대한 편협한 (기계론적인) 이해가 만연해 있다는 억견(臆見)은 상호문화적인 토론의 장에 있어 종종 의사소통적 장벽과 어려움을 야기한다. 본고는 헤겔의 『법철학』저작을 통해 헤겔이 겉보기에는 자연과 세계와 대립되는 강한 개념으로서 자아를 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라(도덕성 개념을 참조), 자율적이기에 강한 자아와 자연 사이에 광범위한 개념적 연관관계를 발전시켰다는 것을 드러낼 것이다. 더 나아가, 어떻게 헤겔이 내부/외부의 대립하는 개념적 도식을 발전시켰는지도 상세히 드러낼 것이다. 이 개념적 도식이란 자아와 세계 (자연) 사이의 관계에있어 정초(定礎)된 것이기에 외부의 다양한 차원들은 먼저 구별돼야만 하고,이를 통해 최종적으로 엄격한 의미에서의 내부와 외부의 대립이 극복된다. 더불어 헤겔이 자아를 규범적 질서의 원천으로서 다뤘다는 것과, 하지만, 자연 혹은 자연성을 그 규범적 질서의 구성요소로서 연관성있게 다뤘다는 점도 명료화 돼야만 한다. 자아와 자연의 개념 사이의 개념적 연결을 보여주는 본고의 이러한 설명은 궁극적으로 상호문화철학의 대화에서 의사소통을 할 것을 제안하는 것으로써 기능해야 할 것이다.

The view that a strong concept of self and a reduced (mechanistic)and depotentized understanding of nature dominate in the tradition of Western philosophy often leads to communication blocks and difficulties in understanding in the context of intercultural discussions. Using Hegel s Philosophy of Right, the following article tries to show that Hegel does indeed have a strong concept of self in opposition to nature and the world (see the concept of morality) at the first glance, but he also develops far-reaching conceptual links between a strong(because autonomous) self and nature. It is to be shown in detail how Hegel further develops the conceptual schema of an inside / outside opposition, which underlies the relationship between the self and the world (nature), so that different dimensions of the outside have to be differentiated first and finally the strict opposition between inside and outside is overcome. At the same time, it should be made clear that Hegel draws on the self as a source of a normative order, but without relinquishing the relevance of nature or naturalness for the constitution of the normative order. The demonstration of the conceptual connections between the concept of self and nature should ultimately serve as a venue for communication in the ongoing dialogue of intercultural philosophy.
