근로연령층 시각장애인의 차별경험이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향

Effects of Discrimination Experience of Working-Age Visually Impaired People on Life Satisfaction : The Mediating Effects of Disability Acceptance

본 연구는 시각장애인의 차별경험이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 두 변수 간 관계에서 장애수용의 매개효과를 검증하여 시각장애인의 생활만족도를 높이기 위한 기초자료 및 대안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2017년 장애인고용패널(2차웨이브 2차조사자료) 원자료 중 시각장애인 541명을 추출하여 매개회귀분석과 sobel test 등을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 시각장애인이 일상생활에서 겪는 차별 경험은 매개변수인 장애수용에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 차별 경험은 종속변수인 생활만족에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 차별경험과 장애수용을 동시 투입해 생활만족에 미치는 영향을 검증한 결과, 차별경험은 유의한 영향력이 없었고 장애수용만 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 차별경험과 생활만족 간에 장애수용의 완전매개효과가 검증되었다. 본 결과에 근거해 시각장애인이 만족스러운 삶을 유지할 수 있도록 장애에 대한 올바른 이해와 차별적 환경을 개선하기 위한 개선방안들이 제안되었다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of discrimination experience of working-age visually impaired people on the life satisfaction and to examine the mediating effects of acceptance of disabilities on the relationship between discrimination experience and life satisfaction. The data of 541 persons with visual impairment are extracted from the original data of the 2017 Panel Survey of Employment (second wave, second survey data) and used for the study, and the mediating regression analysis as well as the Sobel-Test are performed. The results of the study are as follows. First, the experience of discrimination has a significant negative effect on acceptance of disabilities, the mediating variable. Second, the experience of discrimination has a negative effect on life satisfaction, the dependent variable. Third, when the effects of discrimination experience and acceptance of disabilities on life satisfaction are considered simultaneously, discrimination experience was not significant, but acceptance of disabilities had a statistically significant effect. This suggests the fully mediating effect of disability acceptance between discrimination experience and life satisfaction. Based on the results, alternatives have been proposed to have a better understanding of disability and discriminative environments in order for visually impaired people to maintain a satisfactory life.
