Purpose: This research aimed to identify the relationship between self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, critical thinking disposition, and the effect of this relationship on the acceptability of dating violence in nursing students. Methods: The participants, 219 nursing students, were recruited from four university located in two provinces of Korea. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results: Participants’ scores for self-esteem, interpersonal relationship, critical thinking disposition, and acceptability of dating violence were 3.72±0.63, 3.77±0.46, 3.63±0.41 and 1.31±0.39 respectively. The results show that the higher the score for self-Esteem (r=−.22, p =.001), interpersonal relationship (r=−.18, p =.008), and critical thinking disposition (r=−.18, p =.008), the lower the score for acceptability of dating violence. The most important factor influencing Acceptability of dating violence was gender (β=−.29, p <.001) followed by self-esteem (β=−.18, p =.022) in that order. These factors explained 13.5% of total variance acceptability of dating violence (F=9.53, p <.001). Conclusion: It appears necessary to develop a systematical dating violence prevention program in order to improve self-esteem, interpersonal relationship, critical thinking disposition and reduce acceptability of dating violence.
