Extradigital glomus tumor of the back: about a case and review of literature

Glomus tumors are rare benign mesenchymal tumors that most frequently arise in the subungual area of the finger. However, extradigital glomus tumors (EDGT) are extremely rare and the diagnosis is difficult due to their low incidence and different clinical features from digital glomus tumor. EDGT in the back is exceedingly rare. Only two case reports of EDGT of the back has been reported in the English literature. Here, the author reports a case of EDGT of the back of an 80-year-old female patient who has a 1.0x1.0 cm sized asymptomatic solitary redish purple nodule. Clinical and pathological awareness to avoid misdiagnosis of EDGT is discussed with literature review.
