Study on the Braille Transcription Types of Tables of the Data Interpretation Section in PSAT

연구 목적: 국가공무원 필기시험 중 공직적격성평가 자료해석영역을 치루는 점자 읽기 시각장애인의 가독성을 확보하는 점역 형식을 고찰하는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구 방법: 자료해석영역 3년간의 기출 문제를 대상으로 시각자료가 얼마나 담겼는지 분석하였다. 기출문제 40문항 중 표의 양식을 분석하여 점역에 필요한 점자칸 수를 계산하여 가능한 점자 제시 형식을 고찰하였다. 연구 결과: 2020년도 40개 문제 중 1~2개의 텍스트 문제를 제외하면 문제마다 1~6개의 표와 그래프가 제시되었다. 표의 가독성 확보를 위하여 기존 지침과 보완한 점역 형식 두 가지 예시를 제안하였다. 결론: 표를 점역할 때 행렬을 살려서 셀을 정렬해 주면 셀을 쉽고 빠르게 찾을 수 있기에 가독성을 높여준다는 점이 시사되었다. 추후 실제 응시자의 인터뷰와 표 가독성의 실증적 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the braille transcription types of tables in order to increase the blinds readability of data interpretation section that are included in Public Service Aptitude Test in South Korea. Method: The researcher investigated how many visual materials were included in actual exam questions in the data interpretation section by analyzing actual exam questions written in the past three years. The researcher analyzed the types of the tables in forty exam questions and calculated the number of braille cells needed for the braille transcription. Results: Except for one or two text based questions out of forty questions, one to six tables and graphs were presented in each question. The researcher suggested two types of the braille transcription to increase readability of tables. Conclusion: The results indicate that braille transcription of tables should focus on keeping a matrix table for readability of tables. This is because the braille-transcribed tables with cells help the blinds easily locate cells they need in the tables. It is needed to conduct empirical research that interviews the test-takers with visual impairments and blindness on the readability of tables.
