Aesthetica as an Ideal of Education: With regard to the Internalization of the Subject

본 논문의 목적은 쉴러의 「인간의 미적 교육에 관한 편지」를 교과의 내면화와 관련하여 분석하는 데에 있다. 일반적으로 내면화는 교과와 마음 간의 관계 규명을 통하여 마음의 이상적 경지에 이르는 일의 가능성과 필요성을 설명하는 이론으로 기대된다. 본 논문에서 주목하고자 하는 내면화의 설명은 교과와 마음 간의 관계보다는 마음 안에서의 역동성이다. 「편지」는 감각과 이성 간의 관계, 쉴러의 용어로는 감각충동과 이성충동 간의 상보적 관계를 중심으로 ‘미’를 지향하는 마음의 움직임을 우리앞에 꺼내어 보여준다. 「편지」의 집필의도가 이 마음의 움직임을 언어화하여 미가 ‘살아있는 형식’으로서 우리안에 있음을 보여주고자 하는 데에 있다는 점, 그 점에서 아이스테티카를 더 이상 ‘지각방식’이 아니라 ‘존재방식’으로 새롭게 해석했다는 점에서 내면화 이론의 새로운 측면을 드러낸다.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Schiller s On the Aesthetic Education of Man in relation to the internalization of the subject. In general, internalization is expected to be the theory that explains the possibility and necessity of reaching the ideal state of mind through the relationship between subject and mind. In this paper, the explanation of internalization that I want to pay attention to is not the relationship between the subject and the mind, but the dynamism in the mind. On the Aesthetic Education of Man shows in front of us the movement of mind that aims for beauty centering on the relationship between sense and reason and the reciprocal relationship between sensuous drive and formal drive in Schiller s terms. The intention of writing the On the Aesthetic Education of Man is to make the movement of the mind verbal and show that beauty is within us as a living form . The new interpretation of aesthetica as a way of existence rather than a way of perception reveals a new aspect of internalization theory.
