Directions and Tasks of Moral Education in the Age of Science and Technology

과학기술의 발전은 인류에게 많은 유익을 주었지만 동시에 여러 문제도 야기했다. 과학기술의 문제 저변에는 윤리 문제가 있다. 이 글에서는 과학기술 시대에 윤리의 중요성 및 윤리교육의 방향을 밝히고, 보다 나은 과학기술 시대를 위한 윤리교육의 과제 및 학교 윤리교육과정에의 시사점을 살펴본다. 제 2장에서는 과학기술 시대에 윤리 경시 풍조에 대응하여 윤리의 중요성 교육의 필요성을 밝힌다. 제 3장에서는 ‘전문직 윤리학’ 접근의 애매성을 분석함으로써 윤리교육의 방향을 모색한다. 제 4장에서는 과학기술 시대의 특징에 따른 윤리교육의 과제를 정보사회, 지식사회, 세계화사회의 세 측면에서 고찰한다. 끝으로 이러한 고찰이 학교 윤리교육과정에 주는 시사점을 논의한다.

The advancement of science and technology has brought many benefits to human beings. However, it also has brought various problems. Underneath those problems lie ethical problems. The purpose of this study consists in suggesting the directions of ethical education in the age of science and technology, showing the tasks of ethical education, and discussing its implications on ethical education. In the chapter 2, I criticized the myth of value-neutrality of science and technology. I argued that science necessarily implies morality, and thus it is important to teach ethics in science. In the chapter 3, I analysed the ambiguity of the term professional ethics , arguing to restore its desirable meaning. I suggested putting focus on teaching internal goods of the practice of science. In the chapter 4, I explored the tasks of ethical education according to the features of the society, tasks for information society, knowledge society, and globalized society. Finally, I suggested the implications of our discussion on school curriculum of ethical education.
