Plato s Phaedrus: True Rhetoric and Mind Cultivation

본 연구에서는 플라톤의 대화편 『파이드로스』에 나타난 참된 수사학의 의미를 밝힘으로서 참된 수사학이 심성함양의 중요한 통로가 된다는 점을 드러내고자 하였다. 먼저『파이드로스』에 나오는 영혼불멸, 에로스, 미의 개념과 참된 수사학의 개념적 관련을 고찰하였다. 그 결과로 참된 수사학은 에로스에 힘입어 영혼을 이데아로 향하게 하는 수사학임을 밝혔다. 다음으로 참된 수사학을 칸트의 선험철학의 관점에서 재해석하였다. 칸트의 선험철학과 관련하여 해석된 참된 수사학은 언어의 전달 문제 또는 지식의 획득 문제와 관련된다. 그리하여 심성함양을 목적으로 하는 참된 수사학은 교육이론의 심장에 해당하는 교과의 내면화 이론과 관련된다는 점을 밝혔다.

The purpose of this study is to disclose that the true rhetoric is the important media of mind cultivation, by inquiring the meaning of true rhetoric in Plato s Phaedrus. First, I have inquired into the conceptual relations between the concepts of eros, immortality of soul, Beauty, and true rhetoric in Plato s Phaedrus. So, it revealed that the true rhetoric is the rhetoric uplifting a soul to Idea in help of eros. Next, I have reinterpreted the true rhetoric in light of Kant s transcendental philosophy. The true rhetoric reinterpreted in light of Kant s transcendental philosophy is connected with the theory of communication and the theory of knowledge acquisition. In result, it revealed that the rhetoric aiming to a mind cultivation is connected with the theory of internalization of school subjects, corresponding to the heart of education theory.
