미술과 교육과정에서 ‘빅 아이디어’의 설정과 적용

A Study on the Designing and Using of Big Ideas in the National Art Curriculum -Focused on the Analysis of Visual Arts Curriculum in BC, Canada-

본 연구는 미술과 교육과정에서의 ‘빅 아이디어’ 개념을 중심으로 우리나라 미술과 교육과정 설정을 위한 적용 방안을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 미술교육에서 교과 교육과정 설계 방안으로서 빅 아이디어를 도입한 교육과정 총론의 원래 취지를 살리며 그 취지에 따라 미술교육의 성격을 제시하는 것을 목표로 하여 이를 위한 사례 연구로서 제 외국의 교육과정 문서를 살펴보았다. 그 가운데 특히 캐나다 공교육인 BC주의 교육과정을 통해 미술과 교육과정의 내용과 구성을 탐색하였다. BC주의 교육과정에서는 학년별 목표로 빅 아이디어, 핵심개념, 내용을 제시하며 이를 통해 교육과정 설계 및 내용의 구조화를 의도하고 있다. 그리하여 국가 교육과정에서 빅 아이디어와 핵심 개념, 내용의 제시 방식 및 구조화에서 실제 적용 사례를 살펴볼 수 있다. 이러한 과정에서 간학문적 통합 개념으로서의 핵심개념의 취지를 살리고 교과의 근본적 관점으로서의 핵심개념, 그리고 교과교육으로서 미술교육의 목적과 내용의 재검토를 위한 빅 아이디어의 설정 방안을 탐색하고 이를 통해 빅 아이디어 의 미술교육에서의 의의 및 그 적용 방안을 모색하였다.

The purpose of this study is to explore application methods for designing core concepts of the national art curriculum in Korea, focusing on the concept of big idea in art curriculum. As a way to design the curriculum in art education, I looked at foreign curriculum documents as a case study aimed at bringing the original purpose of the big idea to life and presenting the nature of art education in a meaningful way. Among them, the content and composition of art curricula were explored, especially through the Canadian public education, Province of British Columbia(BC) curriculum. BC curricula present big ideas, core concepts and content as goals for each school year, which are intended to structure curriculum design and content. Thus, the actual application cases can be looked at in the national curriculum in the presentation of big ideas and key concepts, the way they are presented, and the structuring. In this process, I explored the purpose of the core concept as a concept of interdisciplinary integration, the core concept as a fundamental point of view, and the purpose and contents of art education as a subject education. To this purpose, I explored ways to set up big ideas and sought the significance of big ideas in art education and their application in art curriculum.
