초등학교 어린이를 위한 성미디어 리터러시 교육 사례와 수업안

Case Studies and the Proposal of Gender Media Literacy for Elementary School Children: The Criteria from the My Pop Studio Model

본 연구는 초등학교 연령대 어린이를 위한 성평등 관련 미디어 리터러시 수업을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 성평등과 연관된 미디어 리터러시 국내의 연구가 주로 청소년에 한정되거나, 국어의 쓰기, 사회과학의 분석적인 태도를 중심으로 진행되어 왔다. 이에 연구자는 문화예술교육, 특히 미술실습을 접목한 초등학교 연령대 학생을 대상으로 한 수업계획안을 제안하고자 한다. 일차적으로 최근 미디어 리터러시에서 강조하고 있는 ① 즐거움, 놀이, ② 창조기술, ③ ‘온라인 커뮤니티에서 참여’ 등의 교육 효과 및 전략의 관점에서, 디즈니 영화, 국내 텔레비전 드라마, 이모티콘에 나타난 고정적인 성 관념을 다룬 세 가지 국내외 수업 사례들을 다루고자 한다. 위의 평가 기준은 미국의 템플대학 미디어교육랩(the Media Education Lab)이 운영하고 있는 프로그램 ‘마이팝스튜디오(My Pop Studio)’의 교육 효과에 대한 도표로부터 추출되었다. 이어서 최종적으로 사례 연구로부터 도출된 장단점을 반영한 7주차 수업계획안 ‘성평등 텔레비전 드라마’를 제안해보고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to propose a gender-equity media literacy class for elementary school age children. The research on rmedia literacy education of gender equity has been usually limited to adolescents, with special emphasis on writing in English and analytical skills in social science. I hereby intend to suggest a seven week lesson plan for elementary school age students to combines arts education and artistic practice. The study first compares and analyzes three domestic and foreign lesson plans of sexual media literacy programs for elementary school children drawn upon Disney movies, domestic TV dramas, and emoticonssuch. The comparative analysis will be conducted in light of educational effects and strategies such as ①) enjoyment, play, ② creative technique, and ③ the participation on the onlie community, the theoretical underpinning that have been recently emphasized in critical media literacy. The criteria have been also inspired by the program My Pop Studio, which has been established in the Media Education Lab at Temple University in the United States. Subsequently, the study also propose a 7 week lesson plan of “The Television Drama for Gender Equity” to reflect the result of the analysis on the strengths and weaknesses of three media literacy educational programs.
