예술기반 연구방법에서 바라보는 예술의 가치

A Study on the value of the methods of art in art-based research

본 연구는 질적 연구의 새로운 방법적 시도의 중심에 선 예술기반 연구의 의미를 살펴보고, 예술기반 연구방법에서 바라보는 예술의 가치 탐구를 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구를 통해 예술 기반연구의 의미와 예술기반 연구의 방법, 예술기반 연구방법이 함의한 가치와 가능성을 찾아보고, 그 안에서 예술이 갖는 가치를 탐색해 보았다. 이러한 연구 결과 예술기반 연구 방법 속에 나타난 예술의 가치는 첫째, 예술은 인간의 정서에 지대한 영향을 미침으로써 접근성을 용이하게 한다. 둘째, 예술은 공감각적 지식의 전달 기능으로 보다 정확하게 메시지를 전달한다. 셋째, 예술은 감상자에 따라 다양한 해석이 가능한 열린 텍스트로써의 기능에 적합하다. 넷째, 예술은 연구의 각 단계에서 다양한 접근법을 가능하게 함으로써 연구를 용이하게 한다. 다섯째, 예술은 같은 장소 혹은 같은 예술품을 공유하며 담론의 장을 형성하고, 연대감을 형성하며 공동체의 목소리를 담는다. 이러한 예술의 다양한 가치를 활용한 예술기반 연구 방법을 통해 보다 많은 사람들이 연구 결과를 공유하는 세상이 오길 바란다.

This study is about the meaning of art based research. Art-based research is at the center of new methodological approaches to qualitative research. And ultimately to find the value of art in art-based research methods. To do this, I tried to explore the value and possibility implied by the meaning of art - based research, art - based research method. As a result of these researches, the value of art in art - based research methods is as follows. First, art facilitates access by having a profound influence on human emotions. Second, art conveys messages more precisely with the function of communicating sensory knowledge. Third, the art is suitable for the function as open text which can be interpreted according to the viewer. Fourth, the art facilitates research by enabling various approaches at each stage of the research. Fifth, arts share the same place or the same artworks, form a field of discourse, form a sense of solidarity, and express the voice of the community. I hope that a world in which more people share research results through art-based research methods that utilize various values of arts.
