미술과 교육과정에서 감상영역의 변천과 미술비평방법론 개선방안

A Critical Study on the Sequential Approach to Art Appreciation and Criticism in Art Curriculum

이 연구는 우리나라 미술과 교육과정 역사에 드러난 단계적 미술비평 방법론에 대한고찰을 통해 그 한계를 짚어보고 학습자의 비평적 탐구과정에서 글쓰기 교육의 중요성을 밝히는데 그 목적이 있다. 미술감상 및 비평교육에 관한 연구는 서양에서 학문중심미술교육(DBAE) 이후 지속적으로 논의되어 왔으나, 우리나라의 경우는 2011개정교육과정에 이르러 구체적으로 그 양상을 나타내고 있다. 미술 감상 및 비평교육은 실기중심의 미술교육이 가지는 표현활동중심에서 미술사, 미술비평, 미학 등까지 미술교육의 영역을 확장하는 결과를 초래하였다. 그러나 미술감상 및 비평교육에 대한 방법론에 대한 논의가 미약하여, 형식주의적 접근방법에 머물러 있다는 문제의식을 바탕으로, 이 연구에서는 첫째, 미술교육에서 미술감상교육이 우리나라 교육과정상에서 변천된 양상을 문헌연구를 통해 고찰해 보고 그 변화된 측면을 도출해 내고자 한다. 미술감상교육의 변천양상은 여명기, 정착기, 발전기로 분류하여 논의하고, 각 시기에 제기되었던 쟁점들을 다룬다. 둘째, 미술과 교육과정상에 적용된 미술비평 방법론의 흐름에 가장 큰 영향을 미친 단계적 미술비평 방법론에 대한 논의와 그 한계를 지적한다. 셋째, 미술 감상 및 비평교육에서 학습자의 감정과 생각을 언어를 통해 구체화하는 인지과정이 글쓰기 교육을 통해서 가능함을 제안한다. 형식주의적 관점에 바탕을 두고있는 그간의 미술감상 및 비평교육에서 글쓰기 교육은 보다 인문학적 영역과의 연계를통하여 맥락적인 차원에서 실천되어야 한다.

The concepts of art appreciation and art criticism are included in the newly revised educational curriculum as well as in the new editions of art textbooks. Ever since the Discipline Based Art Education (DBAE) was introduced, art appreciation and criticism have been recurring themes of research in the field of Western art education. However, in South Korea, it was in 2011, through the revision of the educational curriculum, when the concept of art appreciation and criticism was first discussed in a detailed manner. Rather than being centered on expressive activities, education on art appreciation and art criticism incorporates elements of art history, art criticism and aesthetics, thereby broadening the scope of art education. However, art appreciation and its methodology have seldom been topics of discussion, in spite of the upcoming revision of the educational curriculum of 2015. Therefore, this study examines the aforementioned issues by first, examining how art criticism and art appreciation education has been discussed so far in the Korean art education sphere. Second, this study examines the progress of art criticism methodology throughout the art education curriculum. Finally, this study discusses the importance of teaching students how to write so as to develop their capacity to think critically in the context of art appreciation and criticism in art education.
