다문화 미술교육과 인도의 ‘라사’ 이론에 관한 고찰

A Study on the Theory of Rasa in Indian Art with the Perspective of Multicultural Art Education

한국에서 다문화교육이 대두된 이후 미술교육에서 이와 관련한 현장연구들이 있어왔으나 문화의 다양성에 접근한 연구는 많지 않다. 이러한 결과는 다문화 미술교육에대한 이해뿐만 아니라 현장교육의 교수학습 자료 부족을 낳게 된다. 이 논문은 이에대한 연구의 접근성을 높이기 위해 동양 문화권에 속해 있는 인도 예술을 이해하는 기초적 틀을 고찰한 것이다. 미적 경험의 주관성과 객관성의 문제로 거론되는 고전 인도미학의 ‘라사’이론은 인도인들의 문화이며 예술을 감상하는 그들의 전통적 방법이라고할 수 있다. 고전 인도의 ‘라사’이론에서는 예술작품을 경험할 때 느끼는 감정을 이론적으로 풀어냄으로써 ‘경험’, ‘체험’에 의해 얻어지는 예술품의 존재가치 문제를 다시생각해 보도록 한다. 즉 인도미학의 정수를 ‘라사’이론에서 찾는다고 볼 때 다문화 미술교육에서 인도예술작품의 이해를 위한 기초 지식을 제공하고 다문화 미술교육의 폭넓은 교수방법의 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

There has been much extensive multicultural educational field work in arteducation ever since multicultural education came to the fore in Korea. Regretably, however, the approach from the perspective of cultural diversityhas demonstrated not only the scarcity of teaching-learning materials inon-site training but the difficulty of research. To enhance the accessibility ofcarrying out researches on the field, the basic foundation for furtherunderstanding of Indian art works in oriental culture area has beeninvestigated. The theory of Rasa as a classical Indian theory is generally referred to asthe matter of subjectivity and objectivity of specific aesthetic experience. Itcan be said that the theory is a sort of Indian culture and their traditionalway of appreciating art works. As experience has been emphasized in the2009 reformed curriculum, so is in art education. In the theory of Rasa, it isencouraged to reconsider the value of art works obtained by experience,explaining theoretically the emotions experienced by art works. This study aims to investigate the theory of Rasa, with theorization ofaesthetic experience of Indian art, suggested and activated as a way ofteaching-learning methods by instructors who are focusing on the studentsparticularly associated with Indian culture among primary school studentsfrom various cultural background. In other words, when admitting the theoryof Rasa as the essence of Indian aesthetics, a rudimentary knowledge ofIndian art works and a broad variety of teaching orientation for multiculturalart education can be actively provided.
