아동미술발달의 재개념화

Reconceptualization of Child Development in Art

본 논문은 아동미술발달에 대한 담론을 재개념화한다. 특히 시각문화미술교육 담론을 중심으로 아동미술발달을 확장 논의한다. 미술 표현뿐만 아니라 작품 이해에 있어아동미술발달 특성에 대한 이해는 교사들의 교수-학습 운영뿐만 아니라 아동의 성장을예측하고 평가할 수 있는 이점을 제공한다. 이런 교육적 기능을 극대화하기 위해 아동미술발달은 변화하고 확장되고 있는 미술교육 담론 안에서 지속적으로 재해석되어야한다. 다원성과 맥락성을 강조하는 미술교육 담론을 고려할 때, 직선적인 미술 발달단계 이론은 분명 한계점을 가진다. 이런 한계점에 대한 인식을 근거로 사회문화 맥락적 관점에서 아동미술발달의 다양성과 맥락성을 강조하는 연구를 검토하며 아동미술발달에 대한 재개념화를 다룬다. 특히 시각문화의 다원성과 주도성, 정의적 영역에 미치는 시각 문화의 주도적 영향력, 시각문화의 빈번한 급변성, 시각문화 견지에서 바라본 아동미술발달 연구 방법론, 시각문화의 기호학적 접근과 해석학적 접근의 시사점,그리고 마지막으로 시각문화교육을 위한 새로운 원리를 중심으로 아동미술발달에 대한 새로운 논의를 모색한다.

This study discusses some thoughts on the reconceptualization of childdevelopment in art. In particular, it aims to expand our understanding ofchild development in art from a recent discourse in art education, visualculture art education. Art teachers take advantage by being familiar withthe characteristics of child development in art during their art expressionand art appreciation lessons. In addition, sufficient knowledge of childdevelopment in art can help art teachers to predict and evaluate theirstudents growth from their instructions. To maximize this educationbenefits, we need to make efforts to reconceptualize child development in artfrom the perspective of our recent discourses in art education. Post-modernparadigm argues the validity of the child developmental stage theoryLowenfeld initiated, so the validity requires more ongoing investigation. Considering emphasis on plurality and contextuality, lineal developmentalstages in child art is hard to be generalized. Therefore, this article takessocio-cultural perspectives in order to investigate into the reconceptualizationof child development in art in a way to put more emphasis on some issuesaddressed by visual culture art education.Specifically, this paper elucidatesplurality of visual culture, radical changes of the trend of popular culture,dominant influences of visual culture in our affective domain, researchmethodology in child development in art from the viewpoint of visual culture,semiotic and hermeneutic approaches of visual culture, and new principlesfor visual culture education.
