미술 개념에 대한 미술 분야 전문가들의 인식 분석

A Study on the Art Professionals Recognition about the Concept of Art

본 연구는 미술적성 표준화 검사 도구를 개발하기 위한 기초 연구의 일환으로 수행된 것으로서 동시대 한국 사회의 미술에 종사하고 있는 전문가들이 인식하고 있는 미술개념에 대한 특성을 살펴보는데 그 목적이 있다. 미술의 개념은 각 시대와 사회가공유하는 가치관에 따라 다르게 정의될 수밖에 없는 유동적인 개념이다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 선행 연구 및 자료 분석을 바탕으로 미술 개념을 둘러싼 다양한 논의와의미를 분석하고, 동시대 미술 분야 전문가들이 인식하고 있는 미술 개념에 대한 특성을 현장참여연구방법으로 조사하였다. 데이터는 선정된 25명의 미술분야별 및 학교급별 미술전문가들에 대한 BFGI(Brainstorming Focus Group Interview)를 통해획득되었다. 특히, 본 연구는 개인들이 지닌 미술 개념에 대한 인식 특성을 보다 타당하고 신뢰로운 방식으로 조사하기 위해 기존의 FGI를 응용한 BFGI 방법론을 자체개발하여 적용하였다는 점에서 의미를 지닌다. 연구 결과, 회화, 조소, 디자인, 건축의미술분야별 및 유.초.중.고의 학교급별로 인식되는 미술 개념은 특징적인 모습을지니고 있으며, 동시대 한국 상황에서 인식되는 미술 개념이 변화의 과정에 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the recognition of art which artprofessionals share in contemporary Korean society. The definition andrealms of art have been changing through different times and societiesaccording to values that people have shared. In this perspective, this studyexplored meanings and realms of art. Firstly, this study examined realms of art that can be found in varioussocial institutions of Korea and its connotation in terms of meanings of art. Additionally, in order to acquire experiential and professional thoughts andopinions, interviews with 25 art professionals in various art-related fieldssuch as painting, sculpture, design, architecture, teachers of kindergarden tosecondary school were conducted in a way of Brainstorming FGI. BrainstormingFGI is a newly developed methodology by this research that providesinterviewees opportunities to brainstorm about topics during the interviewprocedure. Applying Brainstorming FGI, interviewees can take a moment tothink of his or her opinions before answering. At the same time, researcherscan examine in what way of thinking interviewees come up with theanswers. Through analyzing statements of social institutions about realms of artand Brainstorming FGI data with experts in various art-related fields, thisstudy provides meanings and realms of art that contemporary Korean societyshare in common. This study could contribute fundamental data or thoughtson diverse research and discourses about definition and realm of art as wellas art aptitude.
