자연에 대한 감성을 깨우는 미술

Developing Sensitivity towards Nature through Nature Arts: A Case Study of Nature Art Education Project Collaborated with a Nature Artist

환경 문제에 대한 위기의식이 높아짐에 따라 이를 해결하기 위한 여러 가지 사회적움직임이 각계에서 일어나고 있다. 그러나 근본적인 문제 해결을 위해서는 환경에 대한 인식, 즉, 자연과 인간의 유기적 관계 회복이라는 가치관의 변화가 선행되어야 하며 이를 위해서는 지적으로 문제를 분석하고, 해결하기 보다는 가슴으로 느끼고 공감할 수 있는 감성적 체험을 통한 교육적 접근이 필요하다. 자연미술은 자연의 본질에대한 탐구를 바탕으로 자연에서의 다양한 감각적 체험, 과학적 지식의 탐구, 정서적교육 등 학습자의 능동적이고 종합적인 의미 구성의 과정으로 자연에 대한 감성을 회복하고 관계 회복을 돕는다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자연미술 작가 참여 프로젝트를 통해자연미술이라는 장르에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 자연을 바라보고, 교감하는 방법을 제안해 줌으로써 학생들이 자연물을 이용한 단순한 미적 표현을 넘어서 자연과 소통하는새로운 방식을 경험하도록 하였다.

Increasing environmental awareness fosters reflective thinking and participation in environmental movement. On the other hand, there is a movement that requires us to redefine our human-centered worldview. Because human-centered worldview rationalized reckless development and destruction of natural environment by instrumentalizing nature, it would be more urgent and fundamental to recover our relationship with nature in this environmental crisis. Regarding this, in art education, many researches have been done. Especially the educational programs which stimulates the interaction between students and nature have been developed but those activities were limited and repetitive. Therefore, in this study, I studied the case of the nature art education project collaborated with a nature artist based on understanding of nature art and discussing its educational values. Nature is an art genre using natural resources, based on interrelationship between human and nature, and leading us to introspect the relationship with nature. This experience can help students to recover the relationship with nature and futhermore assimilate themselves with nature. After the project, in this study, students not only got more interested in natural environment and environmental problems but also their attitudes and behaviors towards nature have been changed. In order to expand the positive effects of nature art project, the project should be planned on a long timeline and each subject should be closely connected. Collaboration with artists diversifies the projects but the roles of artists can be defined differently depending on education environment and teachers capabilities and attitudes.
