In this study, The visual attention and types of unscientific explanations that appear in the explanation of refraction phenomena were investigated. 22 university students participated in the study, and the third-party perspective tasks and observer perspective tasks related to the refraction of light were presented to collect and analyze the visual attention shown in the explanation and explanation of the phenomenon. As a result of the study, the visual attention of the groups that gave scientific explanations about the refraction phenomenon of light and the group of unscientific explanations were different. In addition, it was more difficult to explain from an observer s perspective than from a third party perspective. The types of unscientific explanations were explained in the third party perspective task that light emanates from the eye and moves forward to the object, and in the observer perspective task that light travels along the object and assumes an arbitrary observer at a specific location in the photograph. From these results, it is suggested that for the transfer of the concept of refraction of light and its application in real context requires to integrate the third-party perspective and the observer perspective into instruction.
