For this purpose, eye movement data of students reading sex education materials were collected and analyzed. The subjects of this study were 42 students (22 males and 20 females) in elementary school 5th and 6th grades, and 35 students (16 males, 19 females) were analyzed. The selected materials were used as an experimental task in this study and eye movement data were collected when students read the materials using the eye tracking system. There is no statistically significant difference in the remaining AOIs, except for the gender-specific visual cautions during reading of the sex education textbook and the physiology of female students. The differences in visual attention that occur before and after puberty are not statistically significant. And according to the experience of sex education, statistical differences were shown in the fixation duration of illustrations for female genitalia, and there is no difference in other AOIs Based on the results of this study, it would be helpful to develop high quality sex education materials if the actual needs of the school are integrated.
