Pilot bed tests using circulating fluidized bed (CFB) were conducted to apply oxy-fuel technology for waste sludge and biomass combustion as a carbon capture and storage technology. In the pilot test, air and oxy-fuel combustion experiments for waste sludge and biomass were conducted with a flue-gas recirculation (FGR) unit. By the various tests, the oxygen injection ratio and biomass mixing ratio for oxy-fuel combustion was decided as 25 % and 30 %, respectively. FGR test was conducted to increase the purity of carbon dioxide in the flue-gas. At a flue-gas recirculation ratio of 15 %, over 90 % of purity for carbon dioxide concentration in flue gas was achieved, which verified the possibility of oxy-fuel CFB technology for burning waste sludge as CCS-ready system. for burning waste sludge and biomass.
