중학생의 학업무기력과 학업열의의 관계에서 그릿의 매개효과

The Mediating Effect of Grit on the Relationship between Academic Helplessness and Academic Engagement of Middle School Students

본 연구에서는 중학생의 학업무기력, 학업열의, 그릿의 구조관계를 검증하고, 학업무기력과 학업열의의 관계에서 그릿의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동·청소년패널조사 2018(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018)의 중학교 1학년 데이터를 활용하여 분석하였다. SPSS를 활용하여 기초통계분석을 실시하였으며, AMOS를 활용하여 구조방정식모형을 검증하고 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중학생의 학업무기력은 학업열의와 그릿에 부적 영향을 미쳤으며, 그릿은 학업열의에 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 중학생의 학업무기력은 학업열의에 직접 영향을 미치면서 그릿을 매개로 간접 영향도 미치는 것으로 나타나 그릿의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구가 갖는 의의와 제한점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate structural relationship among academic helplessness, academic engagement and grit, and to examine the mediating effect of grit on the relationship between academic helplessness and academic engagement of middle school students. The subjects were 2,541 first graders in middle schools collected from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 data. Data were analyzed by using SPSS for basic statistical analysis and AMOS for structural equation model analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, academic helplessness was found to have a statistically significant negative effect on academic engagement and grit. On the other hand, grit had a positive effect on academic engagement. Second, academic helplessness directly affected academic engagement and indirectly affected when grit acted as a mediator. That is, grit was partially mediated the relationship between academic helplessness and academic engagement. The limitation and implications of further study were discussed and suggested based on this result.
