미적 교육과 인성 교육과의 연관성 연구

The Study of Relationship between Aesthetic Education and Moral Education : with F. Schiller and Chuang Tzu as the central figure

본 연구는 쉴러(F. Schiller)와 장자(莊子)의 미적 활동이 인성에 크게 영향을 줄 수 있다는 가정 하에서 그 연관성을 밝히는 연구이다. 쉴러는 미적 교육의 중요성을 주장하였는데, 미적 교육은 조화로운 인간 교육을 위한 중요한 도구로 사용될 수 있기 때문이라고 했다. 그의 인간관은 인간이 형식 충동(Formtrieb)과 감성 충동(Stofftrieb)이 있고 이것을 서로 구분되는 성질이라고 하였다. 이러한 상반된 성질을 가지고 있기 때문에 인간은 불안전함에 노출되어 있다고 한다. 이런 불안전함에 있어 미(美)는 한쪽으로 치우치거나 힘의 조화가 무너진 상태에서 균형을 유지하도록 한다. 이러한 미(美)는 사유와 감각을 결합시키는 역할을 하므로 결국에는 조화로운 인성을 완성시키는데 기여한다고 한다. 장자(莊子)는 미학이나 미에 관련된 체계적 이론이 나타나지 않으나 도(道)나 덕(德), 기(氣)를 통하여 자연(自然)의 이치를 따르는 인간상을 제시한다. 장자는 자연(自然)의 본성과 무위의 경지에 이른 사람을 진인(眞人; 혹은 至人, 神人, 天人)이라고 하였다. 이러한 진인(眞人; 혹은 至人, 神人, 天人)은 장자가 생각하는 최선의 자유의지를 가지고 있는 최고의 인(人)이다. 이러한 ‘자연(自然)’의 본성을 키우는 매개체를 미적 활동이라 하며, 이를 통해 자연적 본석이 길러질 수 있다고 했다. 쉴러나 장자는 서양과 동양에서 시대정신을 반영한 최선의 인간상을 제시했고 이러한 최선의 인간의 특성을 기르는 매개체로 미적 활동을 제시했다.

This study is “Aesthetic Education” is very related to Moral Education on the assumption that the aesthetic experience of F. Schiller and Chang Tzu could affect personality development very much. F. Schiller mentioned “Aesthetic Education” in 『Aesthetic Letters: Über die ästhetische Erziehung des Menschen in einer Reihe von Briefen』. He maintained “Aesthetic Education” is just a method for harmonious personal education as a goal. He stated human beings have both formal drive and sensuous drive. The aesthetic keeps the balance from a broken harmony of power and leaning to one side. It contributes to complete harmonious personality through a role of combining reason with sensuous together. Although 『The book of Chuang-Tzu』of Chuang-Tzu does not appear about aesthetics and a systematic theory related to aesthetics, it suggests a human role model following the order of nature through the way(道, do), the virtue (德, deuk), and the spirit(氣, gi). Chuang-Tzu said a true man(眞人, Jinin) who achieves the realm of nature itself and doing nothing. Human beings could be the true man through aesthetic activity which is the medium to develop nature itself.
