불탑을 활용한 초등미술과 교수법 연구

A Study on Teaching Methods Using Buddhist Pagodas in Elementary Art Education

이 연구는 전통미술에서 불탑을 활용하여 교육현장에 적용할 수 있는 교수법에 관한 것이다. 즉 문화교육의 한 형태로서 미술교육에 있어서 초등학생들의 미적체험과 감상 그리고 표현능력을 키워주는 학년별 교수방법을 제시한 것이다. 현행 7차 교육과정의 교과서에는 불교문화를 활용하여 교수할 수 있는 내용은 2학년을 제외하고 3, 4, 5학년의 단원12에 집중되어 있다. 이는 우리 문화유산을 이해하는 범위 내에서 이루어지기도 하며 다른 문화와의 비교를 통해서 이루어지기도 한다. 이 글에서는 불교미술의 한 영역인 불탑을 활용하여 미술사적인 맥락에서 이해를 하고, 미술교육 분야의 지식을 넓힐 수 있는 전문성을 키워주고 이를 통해 교실에서 가능한 미술교과의 다양한 교수방법을 학년별로 제시하고자 한다. 이 중에서 6학년의 수업설계를 구체적으로 제시하고 이를 현장에 적용하여 수업을 한 다음 그 결과를 검토해 보고자한다.

The purpose of this study is, as a part of cultural education, to suggest some teaching methods which develop elementary school students aesthetic experiences and appreciation and expression of works of art using Buddhist pagodas. In the current textbooks of the 7th Korean national art curriculum, introduction about Buddhist culture is only limited to unit 12 of the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade textbooks. This study shows various teaching methods using Buddhist pagodas; making pagodas with various materials such as clay, match sticks, and wet tissue for the 2nd grade, appreciation of pagodas connected with the works of arts in the region for the 3rd grade, combined classes with social studies for the 4th grade, comparative appreciation of pagodas with other countries for the 5th grade, and, for an aesthetic experience, appreciation of modern art and making pagodas creatively for the 6th grade.
