타이포그래피를 통한 디자인 감상 학습 콘텐츠 연구

A Study on Contents for Appreciation Focusing on Typography in Design Education

주변 생활에서 보이는 타이포그래피에 대한 이해와 흥미, 체험의 반영에 유의하면서, 학교 현장에서 사용할 수 있는 타이포그래피 활용의 디자인 감상 학습 콘텐츠 제시를 본 연구의 목적으로 한다. 현 디자인교육은 실생활과 유리된 표현 결과물 중심 교육으로 특히 디자인 영역의 감상 학습에 대한 콘텐츠는 아직 빈약한 수준이다. 3학년 교과서 내용에서 ‘문자와 초대장’ 의 단원을 재구성하여 옥외 간판의 타이포그래피 활용을 콘텐츠로 연구한다. 이는 실생활에서 감상 학습으로 디자인에 대한 올바른 정보를 얻고 미적으로 향유할 수 있는 학습 방향을 지향한다. 초등 3학년은 언어 구사력이나 미술용어 이해가 미발달되었으므로 미술 전문 용어를 제한하여 반복 사용한다. 커뮤니케이션 과정이 강조된 감상 연구와 기호학의 선행 연구를 기반으로 사실분석, 의미분석, 가치분석의 3단계 분석 도구를 재구성하여 타이포그래피 활용의 디자인 교수-학습안으로 제시한다.

The study notices the value of typography in sign design around city as the subject of for appreciation study, and proposed a three-step analysis system, the semiotic, which helps learners find out intricate signs included in typography, interpret their implications and appreciate their values. The objective of the present study is four-fold: to understand education system and social and cultural atmosphere, diverse elements including symbols in typography; to get an overall perspective on various aspects of life; and to develop contents for appreciation study which points to help learners perceived values. The necessity of appreciation study comes from the reality that the primary focus of design education is put on outputs abrupt with true life and learners have infrequent moments for learning how to appreciate and evaluate arts, although several efforts are made to integrate fine arts into real life. The subjects of the study are 3th graders at elementary schools. The year of grade 3 is contemplate as an first moment for appreciation study, because in this period young learners develop a wide-ranging sight for fine arts, sense of beauty, particularly of shape, creative and logical thinking and a low level of language proficiency.
