자아 반성적 내러티브 탐구 방법을 이용한 교사 양성 기관 조소 수업 방안 연구

A Study of Self-Reflective Narrative Inquiry in a Sculpture Class for Pre-service Art Teachers

본 논문은 초등 예비 교사 양성 기관에서 행해지고 있는 조소 수업의 교육적 가치에 대해 논의한다. 이러한 논의를 통해 실기 중심의 조소 수업의 적절한 개선 방안을 이론적 그리고 실제적인 차원에서 모색한다. 우선 이론적 논의를 위해 질적 연구 방법의 한 가지인 내러티브 탐구 방법과 미술 실기를 미술 연구의 한 부분으로 다루고 있는 A/r/tography나 Arts-based research에서 아이디어를 착안한 자아 반성적 내러티브 탐구 방법을 개념화한다. 그리고 이러한 이론적 개념들의 실제적인 예를 연구자가 학생으로서 조소 수업을 수강하며 수행한 실천적인 실행연구 결과를 중심으로 제시한다. 이러한 실천적인 실행 연구는 예술가로서, 질적 연구가로서, 그리고 미술 교사로서 통합적인 역할을 수행해야 하는 우리 자신에 대한 반성적 사고가 미술 교육자로서 자신의 교수법에 대한 반성적인 고찰을 제공함을 보여준다. 결국 이런 통합적인 프레임을 통해 본 연구자는 초등 예비 교사 양성 기관에서 행해지는 조소 수업은 자아 반성적 내러티브 탐구 활동과 함께 이루어지는 실기 수업으로 초등 예비 교사들로 하여금 자신과 자신이 실천할 교수법을 모색하는 미술 교육 연구이어야 함을 주장한다.

The rationale of self-reflective narrative inquiry can expand a sculpture class for pre-service art teachers that is mainly perceived as only art practices. To examine that rationale, this paper discusses the theory of self-reflective narrative inquiry. It also includes a practical example of that approach to show that it is both narrative inquiry as a viable qualitative research method in art education and arts-based research, such as a/r/tography, that forms the theoretical basis of practical and educational self-reflective narrative inquiry. The author’s personal reflective narrative inquiry is offered as a practical example, the result of personal participatory action research undertaken in a sculpture class as a student. It reveals that personal self-narrative inquiry offers the chance for educational research in the sculpture class to inquire into my integrated role as a sculptor, qualitative researcher, and art teacher to have pre-service art teachers who need a teaching model for a future sculpture class. Such personal inquiry can improve our pedagogy as an art educator either whose aim is pre-service art teacher education or whose aim is teaching sculpture classes for children. Ultimately, what this paper emphasizes is that art practices in a sculpture class for pre-service art teachers should be an art research process that facilitates the clear inquiry into ourselves and our pedagogy.
