대안교육에서 미술교육의 역할과 과제

The Roles and Tasks of Art Education in Alternative Education

본 연구는, 대안학교법제화(2006)를 계기로 더욱 활성화추세인 대안교육의 현황을 초등대안학교를 중심으로 개괄하고, 국·내외 일부 초등대안학교의 미술교육활동사례를 고찰하여, 향후 바람직한 초등대안교육에서 미술교육의 역할과 과제를 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 문헌연구를 바탕으로 먼저, 대안교육의 이해를 위한 기초적 고찰을 행하고, 국·내외 초등대안교육의 현황과 초등대안학교(국내 25개교 외)의 미술과 관련교육과정에 대해 살펴보았다, 또한, 한국과 일본의 일부 초등대안학교(한국 5개교, 일본 3개교)의 미술교육 활동사례를 소개함으로써 사례비교·분석을 통해 연구결과를 도출하였다. 그 결과, 대안교육에서 미술교육은 1) 교과 간 학습의 예술적 윤활유로서, 2) 인간관계의 종합적인 학습요소(사회성·협동심·공감능력·소통능력 등) 로서, 3) 인성교육에서 내면의 생명력을 활성화시키는 요소로서, 그리고 4) 통합적 인간형성을 위한 필수 학습요소의 원동력으로서 역할을 해야 함을 밝혔다. 동시에, 이를 위한 금후의 과제를 네 가지 방향으로 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the current status of alternative art education and to suggest the roles and tasks of art education in alternative education. Based on a comprehensive survey on the relevant literature, this study investigates 25 alternative elementary schools and 2 Japanese alternative schools, introduces their curriculum and analyses classroom case studies . As a conclusion, the roles of art education in alternative education has been suggested as follows: 1. To act as catalyst for various subjects. 2. To provide a comprehensive education in social interactions by building empathy and communication skills. 3. To encourage an active lifestyle and help children regain their zest for life. 4. To support as an essential element for the students to grow up with an emotional and academic balance. In addition, a further task of art educators is to encourages liveliness in children through art education.
