A Review and Discussion of the Elementary Art Curriculum Revised in 2007 Curriculum

제7차 미술과 교육과정이 수정·보완되어 2007년 2월에 고시되었다. 제7차 교육과정을 운영해 오는 동안에 국내외의 급격한 사회·문화 환경의 변화와 그동안 학교 현장에서 드러나는 문제점을 보완하기 위한 일환으로 부분적으로 수정되었다. 그동안 전면적으로 개정해 오던 관행에서 벗어나 개정의 필요가 있을 때마다 수시로 개정한다는 정부의 방침에 따라 이 번 개정 교육과정은 제7차 미술과 교육과정의 기본 이념과 내용체계의 틀을 유지하면서 부분적으로 수정되었다. 개정교육과정에서 새롭게 제시된 것으로 학년 군별 목표, 시각 문화 환경, 미술 문화, 표현 과정, 시각 이미지를 통한 미술의 의사소통 강조 등이다. 본 글에서는 개정미술과 교육과정의 내용을 검토하고, 현행교육과정과 개정교육과정의 비교, 개정교육과정의 특징, 교육과정의 내용 체계 등에 대해서 논의하였다.

The Seventh Curriculum underwent a series of revision efforts that were driven by the introduction of the five-weekday system, demands to revise and supplement it, and the society s needs for cultural and educational purposes in art education. It s only natural that curriculums should try to meet the social and cultural needs that are increasingly changing and complex. Living in the floods of visual culture today, we need to equip ourselves with a right understanding of it and critical views. In that sense, the revised art curriculum does reflect the efforts to embrace a new academic tendency called visual culture. Emphasizing visual culture, setting goals by the grades are included in the revised curriculum. New art culture is major of appreciation and the process of expressions is key of expressions. To prevent confusion on applying, the framework of the contents is maintained to the current curriculum. However, dividing the content systems into the areas of aesthetic experiences, expressions and appreciation needs more reviews and researches. In the curriculum, aesthetic experiences are used as a smaller concept as part of the content system. The revised curriculum will have its own meaning only after it s exercised in school beyond the stage of promulgation in documents. Therefore, it s important to provide practical training sessions to the teachers before enforcement.
